🔹 What are Can and Could?

“Can” and “Could” are modal verbs used to talk about:

  • Ability (صلاحیت)
  • Permission (اجازت)
  • Requests (درخواست)
  • Possibility (امکان)

✅ Use of Can (Present / Informal)

  • To show ability now
  • To ask/give permission (casually)
  • To make requests

📝 Examples:

  1. I can speak English. (میں انگریزی بول سکتا ہوں۔)
  2. She can cook very well. (وہ بہت اچھا کھانا پکا سکتی ہے۔)
  3. Can I use your phone? (کیا میں آپ کا فون استعمال کر سکتا ہوں؟)
  4. You can go home now. (تم اب گھر جا سکتے ہو۔)
  5. He can solve the problem. (وہ مسئلہ حل کر سکتا ہے۔)

✅ Use of Could (Past / Polite / Possibility)

  • Past ability
  • Polite permission or requests
  • Possibility

📝 Examples: 6. I could read when I was 5. (میں پانچ سال کی عمر میں پڑھ سکتا تھا۔)
7. Could you help me, please? (کیا آپ میری مدد کر سکتے ہیں؟)

Use “can” for now and “could” for past or polite requests.
