How to Use These Templates

These are flexible frameworks – not memorised scripts. Fill in the [bracketed] parts with your own ideas. The templates ensure you hit every requirement for Task Achievement and Coherence & Cohesion.

Template 1: Opinion Essay (Agree/Disagree)
📝 Fill-in-the-Blank Template
Introduction
It is often argued that [restate topic]. This essay agrees/disagrees that [your position] because [reason 1] and [reason 2].

Body Paragraph 1
Firstly, [topic sentence]. This is because [explanation]. For example, [specific example]. Therefore, [link to question].

Body Paragraph 2
Secondly, [topic sentence]. This means that [explanation]. A case in point is [specific example]. As a result, [link to question].

Conclusion
In conclusion, I firmly believe that [restate position] because [summarise reasons]. Despite some minor drawbacks, the benefits clearly outweigh the negatives.

"I strongly agree that mandatory volunteer work should be required because it builds character and strengthens communities. Firstly, compulsory service instils social responsibility... For example, a Japanese study found that volunteering increased civic engagement by 40%..."

Template 2: Discussion Essay

There is ongoing debate about whether [topic]. While some argue that [view A], others believe that [view B]. This essay will discuss both perspectives before concluding that [your opinion].

Body Paragraph 1 (View A)
On one hand, proponents of [view A] claim that [reason]. This is because [explanation]. For instance, [example].

Body Paragraph 2 (View B)
On the other hand, supporters of [view B] contend that [reason]. This means [explanation]. A case in point is [example].

Conclusion
In conclusion, while [view A] has valid points, I believe that [your opinion] because [reason]. Therefore, [recommendation].
Template 3: Problem & Solution Essay

Body Paragraph 2 (Solutions)

Template 4: Advantages & Disadvantages Essay

Body Paragraph 2 (Disadvantages)

Template 5: Double Question Essay
