Listening Question Types
📝 Form / Note / Table Completion

Complete missing information (names, dates, numbers, addresses).

Example: "Customer's phone number: ________"
🎯 Strategy: Predict the answer type – is it a name? number? date? Listen for spelling of names.
🗺️ Map / Plan / Diagram Labelling

Label locations on a map or parts of a diagram.

Example: "The library is located to the ________ of the car park."
🎯 Strategy: Orient yourself before audio. Listen for directional words: opposite, behind, north of, next to.
✅ Multiple Choice

Choose the correct option from A, B, or C.

Example: "What was the main reason for the delay?"
🎯 Strategy: Underline keywords. Watch for distractors – speaker may mention all options but reject two.
🔀 Matching

Match items from two lists (e.g., speakers to opinions).

Example: "Match each speaker to their main concern."
🎯 Strategy: Read all options first. Cross out used options as you listen.
📊 Sentence Completion

Finish sentences using words from the recording.

Example: "The lecture will focus on ______ causes of pollution."
🎯 Strategy: Read before the gap – it tells you the word type (noun, adjective, number).
🏷️ Short Answer Questions

Answer questions with 1-3 words from the recording.

Example: "How many people attended the conference?"
🎯 Strategy: Answers appear in order. Write exactly what you hear, within word limit.

Reading Question Types
✅ Multiple Choice

Choose the correct answer from A, B, C, or D.

🎯 Strategy: Eliminate obviously wrong answers. Look for synonyms, not exact words.
✓ / ✗ / ❓ True / False / Not Given

Decide if statements match the text, contradict it, or are missing.

🎯 Strategy: True = text says same; False = text contradicts; Not Given = information not there.
🏷️ Matching Headings

Match paragraph headings to the correct paragraph.

🎯 Strategy: Read headings first. Focus on topic sentences (first 1-2 sentences of each paragraph).
🔗 Matching Information

Match specific details to paragraphs or sections.

🎯 Strategy: Scan for keywords (names, dates, numbers). Questions are in random order.
📝 Sentence Completion

Finish sentences using words from the passage.

🎯 Strategy: Word order matches passage order. Circle word limits ("NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS").
📊 Summary Completion

Fill gaps in a summary using words from a list or from the passage.

🎯 Strategy: Check grammar – the word must fit the sentence structure.
🏷️ Short Answer Questions

Answer questions using 1-3 words from the passage.

🎯 Strategy: Answers are in order. Copy spelling exactly.
🔀 Matching Sentence Endings

Match the beginning of a sentence to the correct ending.

🎯 Strategy: Check grammar and logic – the ending must fit grammatically and make sense.

Writing Question Types
📊 Task 1: Graphs & Charts

Line graphs, bar charts, pie charts, tables.

🎯 Strategy: Overview paragraph MUST summarise main trends. 20 minutes max.
🗺️ Task 1: Maps & Processes

Before/after maps or step-by-step processes.

🎯 Strategy: Use passive voice for processes. Use location language for maps (north, adjacent to).
✉️ General Training: Letter

Formal, semi-formal, or informal letter.

🎯 Strategy: Match tone to audience: formal for manager, informal for friend.
⚖️ Task 2: Opinion (Agree/Disagree)

"To what extent do you agree?"

🎯 Strategy: Clear thesis in introduction. Acknowledge opposing view briefly.
💬 Task 2: Discussion

"Discuss both views and give your opinion."

🎯 Strategy: One paragraph per view. Your opinion can be in conclusion.
⚠️ Task 2: Problem & Solution

"What are the causes and solutions?"

🎯 Strategy: 2 causes → 2 matching solutions. Link each cause to a solution.
➕ Task 2: Advantages / Disadvantages

"Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?"

🎯 Strategy: List both, then state which outweighs and why.
🔢 Task 2: Double Question

Two separate questions.

🎯 Strategy: Answer each question in a separate body paragraph.
Speaking Question Types
📋 Part 1: Personal Questions

Hometown, work, studies, hobbies, family, food.

🎯 Strategy: Answer + Reason + Example. 2-3 sentences per answer.
📇 Part 2: Cue Card

Describe a person, place, object, event, or experience.

🎯 Strategy: 1 min prep: write 4-5 keywords only. Speak 1.5-2 min. Use PPF (Past-Present-Future).
💭 Part 3: Abstract Discussion

Society, technology, environment, education, global issues.

🎯 Strategy: PEEL method (Point, Explain, Example, Link). Compare, speculate, analyse.
