Welcome to Your English Lesson!

Hello, English learners! 😊 Today, we are going to learn about a very important and useful friend: the Simple Present Tense. Don't let the name scare you! You use this tense all the time, and after this lesson, you will be an expert.

Tip: The Simple Present Tense is used to talk about things that are always true or things that happen again and again (habits and routines).

When Do We Use the Simple Present?

📅 Habits & Routines

Things you do regularly. We often use words like: every day, always, usually, often, sometimes, never.

"I brush my teeth every morning."

"They watch TV in the evening."

"He always drinks water with his lunch."

🌍 Facts & General Truths

Things that are always true.

"Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius."

"Dogs bark."

"She is a teacher."

Fixed Schedules

For timetables, like buses or classes.

"The train leaves at 5 PM."

"Our English class starts at 10 o'clock."

"The store opens at 9 AM."

How Do We Make It?

Making sentences in the Simple Present is easy. But there is one small, important rule to remember.

For I, You, We, They:

It's simple! Just use the verb itself.

Subject Verb Example Sentence
I like I like pizza.
You live You live in a city.
We play We play football on Saturdays.
They have They have two cats.

For He, She, It:

This is the special rule! For he, she, or it, we usually add an -s to the verb.

Subject Verb + s Example Sentence
He works He works every day.
She likes She likes music.
It rains It rains a lot in autumn.

Remember this rhyme: "He, She, It – the 'S' must fit!"

Let's Practice! 🖊️

Complete the sentences with the correct form of the verb in parentheses.

1. I (live) in a small house.

2. Maria (play) the piano very well.

3. We (study) English every Tuesday.

4. My brother (watch) movies on the weekend.

5. The store (open) at 9 AM.

You Did It! 🎉

Great job! You have learned the basics of the Simple Present Tense. It's not so difficult, right? The most important thing to remember is the -s for He, She, and It.

Try to use it when you talk about your day. Say out loud: "I eat breakfast. I go to work. My friend calls me." Practice makes perfect!

Happy learning! ❤️
